Just finished Glory Trail, and once again Mr. Lewis has kept me completely entertained! This book was my Christmas present to myself, and I finished it it record time because these wonderful characters are like family and who better to spend Christmas with than family! And this book has a very important message, at a time when we need to be reminded of that. This book spends a more than usual amount of time (at least to me it seemed so) at home with Miss Harmony and little Bill and I enjoyed it very much! But when we get back out on the trail with Marion, Homer and Ruben its like old times once again, and I enjoyed that very much as well. I love everything about these books, and if you haven't read them I sort of envy you... there's much to love in this series!!! I'm starting them over again for the third time!UPDATE: 4-21-18, I just finished the Trail Series for the 4th time in prep for the release of book number nine, Dakota Trail, and I have to tell you Western loving friends that Ruben, Marion and Homer are still as WONDERFUL as they ever were! I laugh, I cry and I cannot name a more cherished series of books that I have ever read. You will not be disappointed in these books. As you can see by the high ratings Mr. Lewis has garnered for the Trail Series, I am not in this thought. I can't wait to see if Miss Harmony has a boy or girl for Little Bill and Arliss the Mule to watch over. And to see the Marshalls in action again! Semi-patiently waiting for April 27th.

Was good to follow the boys again I feel like they are friends of mine. It did seem to me that you went a little overboard trying to make them sound hokey, some of it just did not set well in my head. Don't think for a minute that I won' t be first in line for their next ordeal. Safe travels and I'll keep my guns loaded...
If you write more of this series I'll buy them.
As you can see I personally enjoyed this series.
This one really hit my heart with the child .
The Trail series is my new favorite series, ranking up there with the Sacketts by Louis L'Amou in my humble opinion. I confess that part of the attraction for me is that the colloquial language is very similar to what I heard growing up in rural East Tennessee in the 1950's from my father and uncles. Jump right in and you will find another look into the life of this wonderful, loving, caring family and their friends. Ruben has a strong sense of right and wrong that plays out as he hits the trail as a Marshal to handle trouble with his fellow Marshal friends. It is hard to describe the self thoughts he is living with but he figures them out and grows as a person. The characters and story you find are so real you feel you are right there living it with him. You will enjoy this book, and if it is your first in the series you will find yourself seeking out the rest of the books in this fantastic Lewis series. ENJOY. Lavonne Jones
Enjoy reading westerns, especially those books of Mr. Lewis. His book characters are well thought out and each a "real" character in himself or herself! Ruben Beeler, Marion and Homer, are three westerners I've come to care about. Their adventures are fun to read about but their total dedication to the badge, standing up for whats right and wrong, this makes them true heros of the old west. The comradely between these men, their jokes, their stories, and all their teasing of each other, give this series of books a reality of what could have been in the old west of the 1880s! Keep them books a coming pard - enjoy the hell out of them!
We all have Friends (buddies) we grew up with and will never forget them, they live in our hearts and 50 years from now, they will still be there.
This story will lift you up with fear and tension and set you back down to rest and regain your heartbeat.
We all have those folks in our lives and cherish the laughs and teasing of one another but would also take a bullet for them to keep them from harm. Do yourself a huge favor and read and relish the brother / sister and friendships that many of us will carry in our hearts forever!

Best series I have ever read and I will read every one that comes out. I only hope David keeps on with these characters, I'd love to see the series go on till Ruben is old and retired years after Marion and Homer are gone.
I don't know which is better, the bond between the Marshals or Rubens family life so please don't cut back a single word on either. )
This series is not just a great read but inspiring in terms of making you want to develop or improve your own life's relationships. If you haven't started the series you owe it to yourself to read them in order starting with #1.
